Emily Flowers

Emily Rose Flowers grew up in Mollymook NSW. She began her journey with clay in 2015 whilst living on Yuin country. She went on to study ceramics full-time in Sydney in 2017 where she honed her passion for wheel throwing.

In 2018 Emily felt the pull to migrate north and took up her first role as a full time studio assistant on Bundjalung country in Northern NSW. It was here that she fell in love with teaching & sharing her skills. Whilst wheel throwing is her passion, it was through teaching handbuilding that she found herself enthralled by a more figurative way of clay making and enjoyed not rely on a machine. This was a new kind of satisfaction, involving an even more direct relationship with her medium of choice.
Alas, Emily’s new found joy for handbuilding lead her further toward a deeply contemplative & therapeutic creative process, out of which her latest body of work titled ‘Blood, Bone & Marrow’ was born.
